50 Harbor Street by Debbie Macomber

Debbie Macomber returns to Cedar Cove, Washington, for the fifth installment in her bestselling series, following 44 Cranberry Point and 311 Pelican Court. Told by Corrie McAfee, this one is sparked by a series of mysterious, unsettling anonymous postcards delivered to 50 Harbor Street, home of Corrie and her P.I. husband, Roy. In addition to answering the question posed by the postcards ("Is there anything you've done you wish you could do over?"), Macomber picks up the story lines and characters from previous books, including Olivia and Jack Griffin, Justine and Seth Gundersen, and the return of the McAfee daughter, Linnette.

44 Cranberry Point by Debbie Macomber

Olivia Lockhart-Griffin
Cedar Cove, Washington

Dear Reader,

Jack and I are just back from our honeymoon, and I'm eager to catch up with my friends Bob and Peggy Beldon, who run the Thyme and Tide bed-and-breakfast at 44 Cranberry Point. It's a popular place but (needless to say!) things haven't been the same since a man died there. Turns out his name was Max Russell, and Bob had known him briefly in Vietnam. Nobody has any idea why he showed up or—most important of all—who killed him. Because it now appears that he was poisoned. I sure hope, especially for Bob and Peggy's sake, that somebody figures it out soon!

Not that they're providing the only news in Cedar Cove these days. Romance seems to be everywhere among my family and friends. I'm pleased to report that Grace Sherman has more than her share of interested men. Her daughter Maryellen is getting married to Jon Bowman. And my mother, Charlotte, seems to have a man in her life, too. I'm not sure how I feel about that yet….

There's lots of other gossip I could tell you. Join me at Peggy's place for a cup of tea and one of her fabulous blueberry muffins and we'll talk.

16 Lighthouse Road by Debbie Macomber

Olivia Lockhart
Cedar Cove, Washington
Dear Reader,
You don't know me yet, but in a few hours that's going to change. You see, I'm inviting you to my home and my town of Cedar Cove because I want you to meet my family, friends and neighbors. Come and hear their stories—maybe even their secrets!
I have to admit that my own secrets are pretty open. My marriage failed some years ago, and I have a rather…difficult relationship with my daughter, Justine. Then there's my mother, Charlotte, who has plenty of opinions and is always willing to share them.
Here's an example. I'm a family court judge and she likes to drop in on my courtroom. Recently I was hearing a divorce petition. In my mother's view, young Cecilia and Ian Randall hadn't tried hard enough to make their marriage work—and I actually agreed. So I rendered my judgment: Divorce Denied.
Well, you wouldn't believe the reaction! Thanks to an article by Jack Griffin, the editor of our local paper (and a man I wouldn't mind seeing more of ), everyone's talking.

Cedar Cove—people love it and sometimes they leave it, but they never forget it!
See you soon…

A Cedar Cove Christmas by Debbie Macomber

Mother-to-be Mary Jo Wyse arrives in Cedar Cove on Christmas Eve, searching for her baby's father. David Rhodes had said he'd be in town. But he isn't. Which leaves Mary Jo stranded, pregnant and alone. And there's no room at the local inn.…
So Grace Harding brings Mary Jo home to her nearby ranch. She and her husband, Cliff, have a houseful of guests, but they offer her a room over their stable (currently sheltering the animals—including a donkey and a camel—for Cedar Cove's Nativity pageant!).
When Mary Jo goes into labor that night, a young man named Mack McAfee, a paramedic, comes to her rescue, just as her brothers—the three Wyse men—show up in town. The people of Cedar Cove join them in celebrating the birth of baby Noel. But no one has more to celebrate than Mack. Because this Christmas brings him faith, hope and love…

311 Pelican Court by Debbie Macomber

From Booklist The third installment in Macomber's absorbing Cedar Cove series (following 204 Rosewood Lane [BKL S 15 02]) focuses on Rosie and Zach Cox, who have divorced after 17 years of marriage. They are shocked when Judge Olivia Lockhart makes another of her controversial rulings, this time granting their kids the house and ordering Rosie and Zach to make alternating visits. As they struggle with their tiring schedule and deal with their 15-year-old daughter Allison's growing resentment and subsequent problems, they realize that they still care for each other. Then, when Allison and her 9-year-old brother, plot to get their parents back together Rosie and Zach contemplate a reunion but know that learning to trust each other again will take some time. Meanwhile, Olivia is dealing with a love triangle; widowed librarian Grace explores the world of dating via the Internet; and Grace's daughter, Maryellen, struggles with being a first-time mom. Excellent characterization will keep readers anticipating the next visit to Cedar Cove. Megan Kalan Copyright © American Library Association. 204 Rosewood Lane by Debbie Macomber

Olivia Lockhart
Cedar Cove, Washington
Dear Reader,
If you've been to Cedar Cove before, you've probably met my friend Grace Sherman. You can usually find her at home—she lives at 204 Rosewood Lane—or at the public library, where she works. Like me, she grew up in this town and she's raised two daughters here. But did you hear that about six months ago, her husband disappeared? Just…disappeared. Where's Dan? Why did he go? Who's he with? Will Grace ever find out?
I hope that all of us, her family and friends, are bringing her comfort during this difficult time. Comfort and a sense of shelter. I'm continually reminded that life can and does go on. For instance, everyone's been discussing weddings and babies lately. Justine, my daughter, rather impulsively got married a little while ago. Grace's daughter Kelly recently had a baby. Unfortunately, she refuses to accept that Dan might not return to see his first grandchild. Grace's older daughter, Maryellen, is more realistic. Grace thinks she's seeing a new man but for some reason won't say who it is.
Then there's Jack Griffin, our local newspaper editor, the man I've been seeing. And…well, I have lots to tell you. Come on over and we'll talk!

92 Pacific Bloulevard by Debbie Macomber

92 Pacific Boulevard Cedar Cove, Washington Dear Reader, I'm not much of a letter writer. As the sheriff here, I'm used to writing incident reports, not chatty letters. But my daughter, Megan-who'll be making me a grandfather soon-told me I had to do this. So here goes. I'll tell you straight out that I'd hoped to marry Faith Beckwith (my onetime high school girlfriend) but she ended the relationship last month, even though we're both widowed and available. There were a few misunderstandings between us, some of them inadvertently caused by Megan. However, I've got plenty to keep me occupied, like the unidentified remains found in a cave outside town. And the fact that my friend Judge Olivia Griffin is fighting cancer. And the break-ins at 204 Rosewood Lane-the house Faith happens to be renting from Grace Harding... If you want to hear more, come on over to my place or to the sheriff's office-if you can stand the stale coffee!

74 Seaside Avenue by Debbie Macomber

Olivia Lockhart-Griffin
Cedar Cove, Washington
Dear Reader,
Do you remember Teri Miller? She works at Get Nailed, the beauty salon here in town. Well, Teri got married a little while ago—to Bobby Polgar, the famous chess champion. They've moved into a beautiful house, 74 Seaside Avenue, which has a spectacular view of Puget Sound.
Teri's my hairdresser, and she confided that something seems to be worrying Bobby. When she asked him about it, he told her he was "protecting his queen," and she got the oddest feeling that he wasn't talking about chess, but about her.
Rachel Pendergast also works at Get Nailed, and I've heard that she has two men seriously interested in her. I also wanted to tell you that Linnette McAfee, who's Roy and Corrie's daughter, recently left town because her love life fell apart. We all know about that kind of trouble.
Oh, by the way, Teri says we should come in soon for a manicure and a chat….

6 Rainier Drive by Debbie Macomber

Olivia Lockhart-Griffin Cedar Cove, Washington

Dear Reader,
As you may have heard, we've recently had quite a shock. My daughter, Justine, and her husband, Seth, lost their business, The Lighthouse restaurant—to arson. The investigation continues. The prime suspect is a young ex-employee named Anson Butler, who disappeared right after the fire.
So Justine and Seth are trying to make plans and sort out their future. (And let me tell you, that kind of crisis is hard on a marriage!) Thankfully, they have a lot of good things in their lives, including Leif, my adorable grandson, and their lovely house at 6 Rainier Drive.
In the meantime, life goes on for everyone in Cedar Cove—with marriages, births, reunions and even the occasional scandal. One of the most interesting pieces of recent news is that Cal, who works for Cliff Harding, is off rescuing wild mustangs in Montana.
Let's talk soon and I'll fill you in on everything that's happening in town!

Corsair

Corsair by Clive Cussler with Jack Du Brul (Contains Affiliate Link)

For five novels, Clive Cussler has brought readers into the world of the Oregon, a seemingly dilapidated ship packed with sophisticated equipment, and captained by the rakish, one-legged Juan Cabrillo. And now the Oregon and its crew face their biggest challenge yet.

Corsairs are pirates, and pirates come in many different varieties. There are the pirates who fought off the Barbary Coast in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, the contemporary pirates who infest the waters of Africa and Asia, and the pirates . . . who look like something else.

When the U.S. secretary of state’s plane crashes while bringing her to a summit meeting in Libya, the CIA, distrusting the Libyans, hire Juan Cabrillo to search for her, and their misgivings are well founded. The crew locates the plane, but the secretary of state has vanished. It turns out Libya’s new foreign minister has other plans for the conference, plans that Cabrillo cannot let happen. But what does it all have to do with a two- hundred- year-old naval battle and the centuries-old Islamic scrolls that the Libyans seem so determined to find? The answers will lead him full circle into history, and into another pitched battle on the sea, this time against Islamic terrorists, and with the fate of nations resting on its outcome.

“Readers will burn up the pages following the blazing action and daring exploits of these men and women and their amazing machines,” writes Publishers Weekly of the Oregon Files series. And they’ll do it once again, with Corsair. (From Amazon.com product listing.)

Battlefields and Blessings

Battlefields and Blessings by Terry Tuley (Contains affiliate Link)

The period from 1861–1865 proved to be one of the greatest periods of trial and suffering in our nation's history. A significant lapse of time had passed since America had engaged in the horrors of war. After the war of 1812, little memory remained of the fact that war could be “hell.” A veteran of the war with Mexico, General “Stonewall” Jackson wrote to his wife and said, “People who are anxious to bring on war don’t know what they are bargaining for; they don’t see all the horrors that must accompany such an event.”When the prospect of a War Between the States became a reality, the average age of a young soldier was twenty-two. To an aspiring young man who was bored with “life on the farm,” the romanticism and exhilaration of battle was an allurement that soon tried the faith and physical stamina of all who crossed war’s threshold. The threat of losing life and limb from a hailstorm of bullets and shrapnel was compounded by the ever-present danger of dysentery, and all sorts of diseases with little means for treatment. In spite of these frustrating circumstances, many of the soldiers found great consolation and relief through prayer and reading the Bible.Stories of Faith and Courage from the Civil War is a devotional book that opens a rare treasure chest of intimate thoughts and feelings illustrated from the private letters and diaries of both men and women of faith during the Civil War period. The courage and faith examples of these “soldiers of Christ” will inspire both the mind and heart of every reader who desires to have a closer walk with God. (From Amazon.com product listing.)
