The Marriage Risk
Like his brothers, Charles O'Halloran has a distrust of marriage in general—and of anyone related to Catherine Harmon Fletcher in particular. She's the woman who tried to destroy his parents' marriage. Too bad Lanni Caldwell, the only woman he's ever really fallen for, is Catherine's granddaughter… (From Amazon.com product listing.)

White Heat

White Heat by Cherry Adair
Never have the stakes been higher. Never have two people faced greater risks or grappled with deeper desire. Never has Cherry Adair–award-winning author of Hot Ice–burned the pages with so much blazing action and blistering passion.
Professional art restorer Emily Greene is in no mood to see the devil-may-care Max Aries. She hasn’t forgotten–or forgiven–the way Max dropped into her life a year ago, stole her heart, then vanished without a word. Max hadn’t kept in touch with his father, Daniel, either. Daniel Aries had been a master of art restoration and reproduction, and not only Emily’s longtime mentor, but a trusted friend. His unexpected suicide devastates her. And when the prodigal playboy Max returns, her welcome is less than warm–even though his timely arrival in her bedroom saves her from a lethal intruder. But her fury gives way to fear when Max reveals that his father’s death was actually murder . . . and that Emily’s life is now in danger. Like it or not, to stay alive, Emily must put herself in Max’s hands. And once upon a time, that wasn’t such a bad place to be.
But what killer would target professional restorers of Renaissance artworks? Max suspects that a pencil sketch found in his father’s studio, inscribed with a cryptic code, may hold the key. His hunch is confirmed when intel from his control at the counterterrorist organization T-FLAC reveals that the Black Rose terror cell is involved–a chilling revelation that elevates the threat level almost as high as the tension that’s bristling between Max and Emily. Max isn’t about to take his eyes off Emily–though only partly for professional reasons–and even Emily’s rage over Max’s take-charge attitude can’t compare to her anger at herself for so long denying the truer, deeper feelings she has for him. As they crisscross Europe, piecing together the shocking clues to an insidious international plot, dodging increasingly lethal traps, and passionately making up for too much lost time, they realize that–in more ways than one–they can’t live without each other. With no chance of turning back, Max and Emily must put their lives on the line, put their true feelings to the test . . . and get ready to take the heat.

Love and Honor by Randall Wallace
From the New York Times bestselling author of Pearl Harbor and Oscar-nominated writer of Braveheart comes an epic historical page-turner: the gripping, unforgettable story of a patriot's secret mission in Russia to save America from certain defeat on the eve of the Revolutionary War.
A brilliant soldier and passionate patriot, Virginia cavalryman Kieran Selkirk is summoned to a clandestine meeting in the winter of 1774. There he finds none other than Benjamin Franklin, who reveals that the British have asked Catherine the Great, the ruthless and mysterious ruler of Russia, to provide twenty thousand of her soldiers to help stamp out the revolution brewing in America. Such a force, fresh from brutal warfare with the Turks, would crush all hope of American independence. Selkirk's assignment is straightforward -- and astounding. He is to travel to Russia disguised as a British mercenary, offer his services to the Tsarina in putting down a Cossack rebellion that threatens her throne, and convince her not to join the British in their war with America. To succeed, he must cross savage terrain, battle starving wolves, avoid secret assassins, fight marauding Cossacks, and contend with a court of seductive young women. In a narrative full of passion and peril, of battles on horseback and wars within the human soul, Selkirk's mission meets with thrilling surprises, including a romantic face-off with the legendary Catherine herself.
Told with the hand of a master storyteller, Love and Honor is perhaps Wallace's most ambitious project yet, taking readers back to the eighteenth century in a patriotic novel brimming with romance and heroism on the grandest scale. Exotically transporting yet deeply American, Love and Honor captures the fight for good over evil, integrity and compassion over cruelty, and true love over all.

50 Harbor Street by Debbie Macomber
Debbie Macomber returns to Cedar Cove, Washington, for the fifth installment in her bestselling series, following 44 Cranberry Point and 311 Pelican Court. Told by Corrie McAfee, this one is sparked by a series of mysterious, unsettling anonymous postcards delivered to 50 Harbor Street, home of Corrie and her P.I. husband, Roy. In addition to answering the question posed by the postcards ("Is there anything you've done you wish you could do over?"), Macomber picks up the story lines and characters from previous books, including Olivia and Jack Griffin, Justine and Seth Gundersen, and the return of the McAfee daughter, Linnette.

311 Pelican Court by Debbie Macomber
From Booklist The third installment in Macomber's absorbing Cedar Cove series (following 204 Rosewood Lane [BKL S 15 02]) focuses on Rosie and Zach Cox, who have divorced after 17 years of marriage. They are shocked when Judge Olivia Lockhart makes another of her controversial rulings, this time granting their kids the house and ordering Rosie and Zach to make alternating visits. As they struggle with their tiring schedule and deal with their 15-year-old daughter Allison's growing resentment and subsequent problems, they realize that they still care for each other. Then, when Allison and her 9-year-old brother, plot to get their parents back together Rosie and Zach contemplate a reunion but know that learning to trust each other again will take some time. Meanwhile, Olivia is dealing with a love triangle; widowed librarian Grace explores the world of dating via the Internet; and Grace's daughter, Maryellen, struggles with being a first-time mom. Excellent characterization will keep readers anticipating the next visit to Cedar Cove. Megan Kalan Copyright © American Library Association. Olivia Lockhart
Cedar Cove, Washington
Dear Reader,
If you've been to Cedar Cove before, you've probably met my friend Grace Sherman. You can usually find her at home—she lives at 204 Rosewood Lane—or at the public library, where she works. Like me, she grew up in this town and she's raised two daughters here. But did you hear that about six months ago, her husband disappeared? Just…disappeared. Where's Dan? Why did he go? Who's he with? Will Grace ever find out?
I hope that all of us, her family and friends, are bringing her comfort during this difficult time. Comfort and a sense of shelter. I'm continually reminded that life can and does go on. For instance, everyone's been discussing weddings and babies lately. Justine, my daughter, rather impulsively got married a little while ago. Grace's daughter Kelly recently had a baby. Unfortunately, she refuses to accept that Dan might not return to see his first grandchild. Grace's older daughter, Maryellen, is more realistic. Grace thinks she's seeing a new man but for some reason won't say who it is.
Then there's Jack Griffin, our local newspaper editor, the man I've been seeing. And…well, I have lots to tell you. Come on over and we'll talk!

92 Pacific Bloulevard by Debbie Macomber
92 Pacific Boulevard Cedar Cove, Washington Dear Reader, I'm not much of a letter writer. As the sheriff here, I'm used to writing incident reports, not chatty letters. But my daughter, Megan-who'll be making me a grandfather soon-told me I had to do this. So here goes. I'll tell you straight out that I'd hoped to marry Faith Beckwith (my onetime high school girlfriend) but she ended the relationship last month, even though we're both widowed and available. There were a few misunderstandings between us, some of them inadvertently caused by Megan. However, I've got plenty to keep me occupied, like the unidentified remains found in a cave outside town. And the fact that my friend Judge Olivia Griffin is fighting cancer. And the break-ins at 204 Rosewood Lane-the house Faith happens to be renting from Grace Harding... If you want to hear more, come on over to my place or to the sheriff's office-if you can stand the stale coffee!
